Library Two Point...Oh?

Welcome to Library 2.0, as in the next generation of libraries. The Littlestown Library of the Adams County Library System is proud to be a part of the next generation of library services here in Adams County.

Library 2.0 is being able to use the library and library services without having to leave the comfort of your own home. While brick and mortar libraries will always be here to serve the public, "virtual" branch libraries are growing in prominence.

Did you know you can, through ACLS, do the following from home:

-Sign up for a library card from home (http://www.adamslibrary.org/getacard.asp)

-Download audiobooks that you can transfer to your MP3 player (also accessible from our website at http://www.adamslibrary.org)

-View streaming video through a service called MyLIbaryDV (also accessible from our website at http://www.adamslibrary.org)

-View a series of electronic databases that ACLS subscribes to, including HeritageQuest Online, Culture Grams, and the World Book Online (Again, available at http://www.adamslibrary.org)

-View a series of blogs maintained by ACLS staff, including:

Littlestown Library's Shelf Notes (http://littlestownlibrary.blogspot.com)

News from the Sytem's Director (http://adamsdirector.blogspot.com)

Book Reviews from Library Staff (http://aclibbookreviews.blogspot.com)

News for Teens (http://aclibteens.blogspot.com)
(also on MySpace at http://myspace.com/adamscounty)

-Read the latest magazine and journal articles, as well as access many different reference databases through AccessPA POWER Library (accessible from our website at http://www.adamslibrary.org)

-Talk to a real librarian, not a machine, through a program called AskHerePA (accessible from our website at http://www.adamslibrary.org or http://www.askherepa.org). Librarians state-wide, including some from ACLS, staffing this service can help answer your questions and guide you to information.

As you can tell, there is a lot you can do online...we hope to see you soon, either at the Littlestown Library or out there in cyberspace...
